I got my beloved In Style Makeover magazine in the mail today (Fall 2007) and I’ve already read it cover to cover. I live for the In Style line of magazines….well, that, jewelry, Starbucks and a few other things I won’t get into right now.
The “On Our Radar” section was especially yummy - it was all about surprising beauty solutions. Of course I devored them, and of course I thought of you. So, this would be me sharing the goods with you:
- Lemon. To fade sunless tanning streaks, rub the stained area with half a lemon and let the juice soak in for a few minutes before rinsing.
- Food Coloring. Mix a drop of red food coloring with a gloss or moisturizer to create a long-lasting color for your lips or cheeks. Don’t put the undiluted food coloring on your skin, though - the long in lasting wouldn’t be something you’d want. At all.
- Toothpicks. They clean underneath fingernails better than anything. Just be careful you don’t hurt yourself!
- Honey. Combine 1 tsp of honey with 1 tsp of sugar to exfoliate your lips. I don’t care if it exfoliates or not, it sounds delicious!
- Matchbook. In a pinch, the back of a matchbook can be used to repair a nail snag. Pretty clever.
- Paintbrushes. N.Y.C makeup artist Christy Coleman, who has worked with Amanda Peet, says she uses Loew-Cornell’s paintbrushes on her clients all the time. Apparently the different sizes allow her to create precise detail.
